In order to cope with water scarcity and reduction of water quality in arid and semi-arid environment; using saline water, deficient irrigation method and halophytes cultivation in marginal area and increasing water productivity are the most important management practice. To determine the crop coefficient, yield response factor and water productivity of Kochia on marginal land which are irrigated with saline water, plants was grown with six levels (1.5, 7, 14, 21, 28, and 35 dS/m) of saline water and four levels of applied water (50, 75, 100, and 125 percent of water requirement) at north of Golestan province in 2009. Results showed that salinity decreased water productivity and crop coefficient. Up to 21 dS/m salinity there was not significant effect on yield response factor, but it increased at 28 and 35 dS/m under deficit irrigation. Therefore, deficit irrigation can be used successfully up to 21 dS/m salinity. In addition to that, crop coefficient reduction should be considered for irrigation management. Kochia is drought tolerant plant and deficit irrigation and saline water can be used for producing kochia.
