Finding a procedure for removing pollutants from wastewater agriculture can play an important role in the reuse of wastewater in agricultural operations and also cost reduction. Therefore, in this study, low cost sorbents with high performance such as lemon activated carbon with Nano pores (0.1-2 nm) and natural clinoptiolite zeolite were used to remove cadmium and nitrate, respectively. The results showed that increasing the sorbent mass will increase the removal up to 97.7 for activated carbon and 76.5 for zeolite. In the other hand by increasing the sorbent dose, at first the amount of adsorbed pollutant is increased and then decreased and this maximum point is named maximum potential. This point is depending on sorbent and sorbets. Furthermore the results indicated that by increasing the concentrations of dissolved pollutant the removal percent decreases to 24.2 and 11 for cadmium and nitrate respectively. Since different parameters of isotherms are functions of initial pollutant concentrations and sorbent dose, so some new relations are developed that are independent to these factors. Furthermore for simple design of treatment systems, new relations were developed for estimation of removal percent as a function of initial pollutant concentration to sorbent dose ratio.
