Snow drought indices are used to monitor drought in snow basins. So far, the SZIsnow index has only been calculated on a continental scale and the SMRI index has been calculated on a basin scale. Also, to compare the performance of two indicators in a certain snow basin, it is necessary to have a standard. The current research has introduced the Fbench ratio as a tool to compare the SMRI and SZIsnow indexes while calculating the SZIsnow index on a basin scale. For this purpose, in the Dez catchment area with an area of 23,229 square kilometers, first, using GLDAS, we calculated each of the SMRI and SZIsnow indices on a time scale of 3, 6, and 12 months in a period of 24 years (1982 to 2006) and then compared them. by Fbench benchmark. The results showed that the application of the snow drought index is different under the influence of different time steps. So, in the time step of 3 months, due to Fbenchsmri becoming positive in 67% of the months of the year and corresponding to the months of accumulation and then snow melting, the SMRI index compared to SZIsnow with Fbenchszisnow being positive, up to 17%, actual monitoring. More than the SSI index was obtained. This is while in the 6-month time step, despite the superiority of SMRI again with Fbenchsmri being positive by 50%, compared to SZIsnow with Fbenchsmri being positive by 8%, SSI performance is a more realistic monitoring of the drought situation. gave Finally, in a time step of 12 months, due to the 100% negative values of Fbenchsmri and Fbenchszisnow, the SSI index was obtained as a suitable index for hydrological drought monitoring due to its greater compatibility with the melting months including April, June and July
