In this study, the characteristics of hydraulic jump in a rectangular flume with sill on horizontal and adverse slope were investigated. Totally 84 experiments were performed using three different values of sill heights (s) and two adverse bed slopes of 1 and 1.5% at Froude numbers ranging from 4.6 to 7.4 The results indicated that, sill decreases the length of the hydraulic jump 6.3 percent on horizontal bed slope and 46.6 percent on adverse bed slope of 1.5percent. Totally, Presence of a sill in stilling basin stabilizes the jump on adverse slope and improves hydraulic jump characteristics
